Homework/What We Did?

On this page you will find the daily homework, as well as some point form notes on what was accomplished in class today to assist with your dinner conversations!

The Word of the Week is given to students on Monday and they have the entire week, including the weekend, to finish the sheet for the following Monday. They can work on it in class when they finish their work, or bring it home at night. Please make sure the green language duotang that the sheets are in is returned to school each day whether the work is finished or not. Thanks!

May 18 - Today some information was sent home about the Jump Rope for heart this year. Please look it over carefully as there is a lot of information. I also sent home a note for those people who will be volunteering for our trip. I was only able to bring 4 volunteers, so thanks to everyone who once again so willingly offered their time to come on a trip. I only need a few more forms to be returned for our trip. Word of the Week will be due on Tuesday as Monday is a holiday. I'll send home a sheet with EQAO information on Tuesday. Enjoy the long weekend!!

May 17 - Thanks so much to everyone for returning the trip forms so quickly. I'll send home a note tomorrow about the volunteers. I had more offers for volunteers then spaces available. Also, volunteers don't need to pay so I'll send home the $2.50 extra that some people sent in. Also, the class has earned (just barely) a movie day tomorrow so they can bring in a movie and a snack for themself  and I'll choose what to watch in the afternoon. Also, Word of the Week has been updated to extraordinary. Have a good night!

May 15 - I sent home a form today for a trip on June 1st to the Brooklin Fair. Please return the permission form and the $2.50 as soon as possible. Also, if interested return the bottom of the form regardning volunteering. Also, Journals are due tomorrow if they are not yet finished. Thanks so much!

May 14 - Well that was a lovely weekend!! For tonight most students need to finish their Journals, that are due on Wednesday as usual. There were 6 students not finished their Word of the Week today so we had a little chat about getting that completed before they get to school on Monday. Sounds like the Mother's Day coupon books were a success so that made me happy! Reminder that if you're interested book orders are due on Thursday. Have a good night!

Home Reading

Every time a student returns a home reading sheet with 30 entries they receive a sticker that goes on a tracking sheet on the wall in class. They should be trying to get one per month. On this page I will keep track of how many students have each amount of stickers.

As of May 11th students should have 9 stickers:

9 stickers: 1 student

7 stickers: 1 student

6 stickers: 1 student

5 stickers: 5 students

4 stickers: 2 students

3 stickers: 1 student

2 stickers: 1 student

1 sticker: 1 student

0 stickers: 7 students!!

Spelling Words

Spelling words for the week is now finished. Thanks for your help at home throughout the year!

Word of the Week

The purpose of Word of the Week is to teach students to effectively use the dictionary. They will receive a new word each Monday, then during the week they need to fill each box on the handout sheet in their green duotangs.

Reading Tools

Below are some links to a few tools that we are currently using in class to assist with our reading. The Go Chart is used both prior to, during, and after reading. Use it with any book at home that your child is reading. It helps them to infer, determine important ideas, ask questions, make connections and synthesize the text. Please use it randomly at home to help improve their overall reading ability.
