| Welcome to Mrs. Burnett's Class! |
|
Hello and welcome back to another exciting year at Brooklin Village. This year I am super excited to be your child's Math, Language and Physical Education teacher. My objective is, with your support, is to guide your child to attain his/her full potential as a grade 7 student. Classes will consist not only of instructional time, but of group discussions and independent learning. As the year progresses and student learning styles become more apparent, I will work hard with each individual to help him/her achieve the expectations that have been set. Each child deserves my respect and I expect theirs in return. I look forward to not only getting to know your child, but in having the opportunity to watch him/her flourish.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Please continue to sign the agenda daily and ensure your child is reading daily.
Agenda - Communication with parents is very important and I will be using the school agenda as the primary form of teacher-parent contact. It will be used for student tracking of homework and assignment, notes sent home, and to highlight incomplete work. Please note, the agenda should rarely be blank. Parents, please sign the agenda daily. If a note is written in the agenda for a teacher, it is the student's responsibility to bring the note to the attention of the teacher, rotary teachers included. Incomplete Work - Incomplete work will be identified in the agenda with a note for homework subjects. Students will be required to stay outside of class time to complete it. Assessment Book - Tests and assignments will be put into an assessment book and brought home by students for a parent signature on a regular basis. This is my way of ensuring parents are aware of their child's progress. Please help your son/daughter return the signed assessment book in a timely fashion. Lunch Program - To help ensure student safety, any student wishing to leave the school premises over the lunch hour will need a parent note on a daily basis (for students who normally stay for lunch as indicated on the "Lunch Program"). The parent note should be clearly dated, and shown to the teacher on lunch duty. Student Absences - If your child is absent, a homework partner will record and collect missed work which will be placed in a folder ready for pick-up in the homeroom class after school. Extended absences should be reported to the office. SCHOOL SUPLLIES

Our Division Read Aloud! We are very excited to introduce and unveil this exciting new novel. Hunger Games meets Ember City meets, The Giver all assembled into one exciting and page turning novel!!! Our literacy program this fall will be centered around developing our reading strategies, creating meaningful and supported reading journals, and setting up thoughtful paragraphs.
