Homework Duotang

I am sending home a weekly package which will allow your child to keep up with their studies and develop good study habits.  Students will bring home their homework duotangs on Monday, and they will return their completed duotangs on or before the following Monday.

Home Reading Program

For our Home Reading Program students will bring home a book of their choice as well as a duotang which contains a Home Reading Log.  Students are encouraged to read for 15-20 minutes in either English or French to strengthen their oral reading skills and expand their vocabulary.  Students may choose from the variety of books we have in the classroom, or borrow one from the library.  Families are encouraged to build a French library at home as well by ordering from Scholastic.  (Please note Scholastic only accepts cheques.)  Thank you for working this reading time into your nightly routine.

La Dictée

Students will now be studying a short paragraph.  The dictée paragraph will be sent home in the agenda on the Monday, and the Dictée will take place on the Friday of each week.  The purpose of the Dictée is to help students spell frequently used words in their writing pieces.  For the remainder of the year, we will be practicing a variety of verbs in the past, present and future tenses.

Jouer                Danser

Je joue               Je danse

Tu joues             Tu danses

Il/elle joue           il/elle danse

Nous jouons       Nous dansons

Vous jouez         Vous dansez

ils/elles jouent     ils/elles dansent

Thank you for your support with the dictée. If you could sign last week's dictée before sending it back to school that would be great.  This way I will know that you have seen it.

Homework Help

Guimont and Fridays Mme. Bencze is available to help in room 101.  Students are free to go to any session!

About Mlle. Abou-Heif

teacher

I hope that you all had a wonderful summer, and are looking forward to an exciting, fun-filled year in Grade 4. I am excited about teaching Grade 4 French Immersion this year. As you may know, I was fortunate to teach Grade 2 here at Brooklin Village last year, and I am delighted to be back.

Perhaps you would like to know a bit about me. I love to travel, and I had an amazing summer abroad in Nice, France. I enjoyed the people, the culture, the cuisine (especially the cheese), and of course, the beach! I have a golden doodle named Isis, and my hobbies include skiing, swimming, music, cottage life and family.

I look forward to getting to know each one of you, and learning about your interests and strengths. À bientôt!
