The Senior Battle of the Books team had an excellent first year! The kickoff to the new season will be on Tuesday, September 20th. Students from both grades 7 and 8 are encouraged to join this team as we move into our second year running at Brooklin Village. There will be 36 great novels on this year's list to enjoy. If you enjoy reading, this is a great activity to become involved in. If you aren't sure if this is the team for you, come out to our first meeting to see what it is all about. Many students join just for the enjoyment of reading some new books. Hope to see you on September 20th! attle of the books is a wonderful way for the school in Durham Region to work with the public libraries. Teams are made up of 6 students and up to 3 alternates. Team members are required to read novels that have been selected by the librarians in Durham. These novels fall under a variety of different categories (e.g. Fantasy, Family, Favourites, Canadian etc.) There are 36 novels on the Senior Reading List. As a team we will divide up the reading list to make it managable for everyone. In April, the "Battle of the Books" teams from each school in Whitby will meet for the Semi-Battle competition. The top three teams from each division go on to the Final Battle to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. The gold medal winners are awarded a trophy for their school and go on to compete in the Regional Championship.
